Water and Gas in Lubricants and Hydraulic Oil
Our customers experience often that water and/or gas ingresse their hydraulic or lubricant oil. This changes the pressure behaviour of the hydraulic system, reduces the performance of the lubricant, and leads to errosion. Water ingress is espacially the case when there is a leackage in the system. The alternatives are to fix the leack, which is often time-consuming and costly, to replace the oil continously, which is expensive and bad for the environment, or to clean the oil.
Oil Purifier - HYDROVAC™
Ellingsen NOR Instruments has therefore developed a process for the efficient extraction of water and gases from lubricant and hydraulic oils to a low price. In May 2002 the Hydrovac Oil Purifier, HYDROVAC™, was patented and protected worldwide. Compared to existing methods our customers experience an extreme high efficiency in extracting free and emulsified water, moisture and gases. At the same time, tests show that the method is gentle with the oil and does not affect the additives negatively. We build each unit especially for your needs: Do you need a mobil unit to serve different oil systems, do you have limited space on the ground,... We have different sizes available, but our largest unit can process upto 600 l/hr.
Process Description
In a first step the contaminated oil is heated. Then dry air is injected in the oil. The mixture is flashed in a vacuum tank, where free water evaporates and the emulsified water is released by the rapid expansion of the air bubbles. The dry air absorbs the water and moist air leaves the chamber. The heating temperature is adjusted so that the oil stays in liquid phase and can be pumped out of the vacuum chamber. The process is continued until the target purity is reached, usually 100% water free. Later on the water is condensed and the moist air released to the atmosphere.
